Side
Effects
Many
products that have been recently released on the market have
already had safety warnings issued. There are many new
treatments with a short clinical trial period that are already
being recalled – Vioxx and Bextra for arthritis being well known
examples.
The long
term side effects of some “active” ingredients such as coal tar
are also considered of such concern that products of this type
have been removed from sale in several countries. For further
information see our section on
Problems with steroids and
other treatments.
We have
listed many of the side effects and the contra- indications
(adverse effects of taking different types of drugs at the same
time) throughout this website. Our aim is to provide a complete
picture of the various treatment options available for
customers, including the adverse ones that may not always be
made available by manufacturers. This is part of our total
approach to allow customers to make a balanced and
considered decision about their health.
Miracle
Cures
Unlike
many other websites, we do not offer a miracle cure or silver
bullet solution to conditions such as fibromyalgia or
psoriasis. Many products on the market are unlisted with health
authorities and some may be regular treatments in a different
guise. Many psoriasis treatments, for example, are simply “coal
tar” or salicylic acid (to remove flaky scales) products, with
clever packaging and advertised as a magic ingredient. We do
not use any ingredients in our products that may be under a
safety cloud. Although some countries still permit their use,
many others including several European countries, have removed
them from sale due to safety concerns.
Our
products treat the conditions using a multifaceted approach by
targeting various aspects of a condition such as itchiness,
pain, microbial infection, etc., in order to provide a solution
to the condition. We then support this with extensive
information, management plans and dietary/lifestyle advice.
These are available at no charge via our information
downloads
page. We also offer further support by providing
advice through our free
medical inquiry service where
your inquiries will be answered by a qualified health
professional.
